Insurance & Damage Policy

Clear, fair, and risk-based

Pinnacle Peak Hire provides modern, well-maintained equipment for dry hire. As the hirer, you are responsible for the equipment for the full duration of the hire period.

This policy outlines how damage, loss, and insurance responsibilities are managed to ensure clarity and fairness for all parties.

Hirer responsibility

From the time equipment is collected or delivered, until it is returned and inspected, the hirer is responsible for:

  • Safe operation of the equipment
  • Securing the equipment when not in use
  • Preventing misuse, overloading, or unauthorised operation
  • Ensuring the equipment is used only for its intended purpose

Responsibility includes all attachments, accessories, and transport equipment supplied as part of the hire.

Damage to equipment

If equipment is damaged during the hire period:

  • The hirer must notify Pinnacle Peak Hire immediately
  • Continued use of damaged equipment must cease where it may cause further damage or safety risk
  • Repair or replacement costs will be assessed based on the nature and extent of the damage

The hirer is liable for:

  • Cost of repairs
  • Labour and parts
  • Transport and recovery (if required)
  • Loss of hire revenue while the equipment is unavailable

Theft and loss

The hirer is responsible for the full replacement value of equipment that is:

  • Lost
  • Stolen
  • Not returned

This includes situations where theft occurs due to:

  • Unsecured equipment
  • Leaving equipment unattended in high-risk environments
  • Failure to take reasonable precautions

Insurance requirements

Pinnacle Peak Hire maintains insurance over its equipment; however, this does not remove the hirer’s responsibility.

Where required:

  • Equipment is insured with Pinnacle Peak Hire and/or its financiers noted as interested parties
  • The hirer remains liable for damage, loss, or excess amounts

Customers may elect to:

  • Rely on their own insurance cover, or
  • Accept responsibility under this policy

Excess and recovery costs

Where insurance applies, the hirer is responsible for:

  • Any applicable excess
  • Costs not covered by insurance
  • Any gap between insured value and actual loss

Additional costs may include:

  • Freight and recovery
  • Assessment and inspection
  • Administration costs

Misuse and prohibited use

Damage resulting from misuse is not covered under any circumstances.

This includes:

  • Operating equipment outside manufacturer guidelines
  • Use by unqualified or unauthorised persons
  • Use under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Use in unsafe or unsuitable conditions

All such damage remains the full responsibility of the hirer.

Reporting incidents

In the event of damage, theft, or incident:

  1. Notify Pinnacle Peak Hire immediately
  2. Provide full details of the incident
  3. Where applicable, report to police and provide a report number

Failure to report incidents promptly may result in increased liability.

Security and payment authorisation

By entering into a hire agreement, the hirer authorises Pinnacle Peak Hire to:

  • Charge the nominated payment method for damage, loss, or associated costs
  • Recover unpaid amounts related to the hire

This ensures efficient resolution of any issues arising from the hire period.

Fair and transparent approach

Pinnacle Peak Hire is committed to:

  • Acting reasonably and transparently
  • Providing clear communication regarding any damage or costs
  • Ensuring all assessments are based on actual repair or replacement requirements
